Meet Dr Kara Martelle, B. Chiro, B. Hum
A Mission to Improve People’s Lives
Growing up in Texas, Kara wasn’t a fan of going to the family chiropractor. But when she was about 13, she developed unusual pain in her mid back and a visit to the chiropractor was in order. X-rays revealed she had a sideways curve (scoliosis) that was causing her pain. After about three months of care, repeat x-rays showed that her spine had straightened – and Kara became a faithful chiropractic patient and encouraged all of her friends and family to follow in her footsteps.
Driven by a strong desire to actively improve other people’s lives narrowed down her options when she later considered career pathways in high school. She remembered the community aspect of her family chiropractor’s office and how encouraged and supported people felt on their healing journeys, and she decided this was the path she wanted to devote her life to.

Education and Experience
Kara travelled all the way to New Zealand for the opportunity to attend the prestigious New Zealand College of Chiropractic, where she graduated first in her class in 2016, earning the Academic Excellence Award for her year.
She continually expands her skills and knowledge by attending classes and seminars on advancements in the chiropractic profession. Trained in a wide variety of adjusting techniques, she individualises care for every person, from low force and tonal techniques to higher force, heavy manual adjustments, depending on each patient’s needs and preferences.
After living on three continents and practising all over Australia, she and her husband Phil purchased McLaren Vale Chiropractic Centre and settled in the Fleurieu peninsula. They love being part of this vibrant community and contributing to its overall wellness.
Away from the Practice
When she’s not at the clinic, Dr Kara enjoys salsa dancing, hiking, improving her wine knowledge and spending time at the beach with her husband Phil and their beloved dogs, Bruce and Sadie.
